The CIPFA Police and Fire Network held two regional events to consider the practical aspects of police and fire integration in terms of finance, governance and transformation programmes and a timeline of what needs to be done at the different stages of implementation. These events followed on from our successful police and fire conferences in July and February and considered practical implementation issues of the measures in the Policing and Crime Act 2017. We also considered the duty to collaborate and its implications at the local level as well as the potential for police and crime commissioners to take on the governance of local fire and rescue services.
