The largest and the main public sector conference in Wales once again returns to Cardiff on 23 November 2017. The CIPFA Wales Annual Conference once again provides its successful blend of inspiring plenary sessions and streamed optional workshops. All of this is supplemented by a new and improved evening programme of entertainment which will feature the inaugural CIPFA Wales Public Finance Awards.

The themes and context

The conference will take place at a time when the wider constitutional developments associated with Brexit and new powers for Wales are still in development.

The need to be financially resilient and seek new ways to design and deliver public services remains. The conference will focus on how Welsh public finance leaders can lead the way and will not only examine the challenges but identify new service solutions for a digital Wales. The powerful combination of Welsh leadership, new ways of working and embracing the digital future will unlock practical solutions and inspiration in equal measure.

Conference highlights

  • keynote speech from Jane Hutt, Leader of the House and Chief Whip Welsh Government
  • insight, debate and practical sessions from leading figures and practitioners
  • streamed workshop choices
  • student strands
  • inaugural public finance awards ceremony
  • networking and social
  • exhibition.
