Local Government Finance Model

The IFS-CIPFA Local Government Finance model is an interactive, web-based tool which allows councils in England to look at a range of scenarios for future revenues, spending needs and the local government funding system, to aid with their medium- to longer-term planning and engagement with system reform.

To produce results, a number of default assumptions are made in the modelling. You are able to vary the assumptions made around Revenue Projections, Spending Projections, Funding System Reforms, and Economic Forecasts.

How do I use the Local Government Finance model?

To help you get the most from this tool, we've produced a user guide and walkthrough video. We also hosted a free webinar on the 19 July 2022, where we explained how to use the model and answered your questions.
