About this event

But what does this mean for local authorities and how can we respond in terms of climate adaptation to create a more resilient network within the constraints of our operations?
Building on previous HAMP events where we covered resilience and drainage, this event will provide:

  • An overview of the strategy with ways authorities can consider climate adaptation and resilience and look for quick wins.
  • A summary of international best practice and signpost information, that might be relevant for local authorities
  • An opportunity to discuss the new DfT transportation adaptation strategy, what it means for you, and how you think it will impact your authority.

As usual our morning will start with our topical Strategic Update which will be slightly extended to provide an overview of the public sector procurement act (following popular demand from our last event). The update as a whole provides a valuable session which explores what is happening in a range of key areas affecting highways in local government including new/proposed legislation, new technologies, environmental issues, and traffic management.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at Directors, Heads of Service and senior managers involved in the procurement, planning, design and delivery of highway and transportation programmes and initiatives particularly but focused on climate change, resilience and adaptation. It will also benefit highways service delivery partners who are interested in developing their capacity of supporting wider highway management activities.

How will I benefit?

The webinar will bring you up to date with the latest highway news and that of the wider public sector. We will examine the DfT’s ‘Adaptation Strategy’ and discuss some of the key consultation areas through a facilitated discussion, where we can share ideas and examples of how councils are responding.
