The professional update for internal audit focuses on good professional practice for internal auditors. The seminar involves in-depth discussions on aspects of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards.
At the 2019 events the topics included internal audit planning and the quality assurance and improvement programme. There was an overview of current developments impacting on standards, including the new CIPFA Statement on the Role of the Head of Internal Audit. One of CIPFA's assessors for the external quality assessment (EQA) shared learning points from the EQAs carried out and examples of good practice. The event also considered how the audit committee should be encouraged to provide professional oversight of the standards and performance of internal audit.
