Whole Of Government Accounts

23-07-2012

This series was designed to provide delegates with an introduction / refresher on the Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) process and aid the completion of the 2011-12 WGA L pack. The training events covered the key lessons learned from the 2009-10 and 2010-11 WGA exercises, and how these lessons have informed the development of the 2011-12 L pack. Delegates were provided with a comprehensive walk-through of the L pack and tips / tricks on the most effective order of completion. Of particular focus was the challenge in addressing the Counter Party transactions elimination qualification in the 2009-10 Audited WGA Accounts, and the validations included in the L pack to minimise queries in this area.

The WGA series was a joint presentation by CIPFA FAN and HM Treasury. The slides from the series are available below, together with a “next steps” presentation delivered to delegates at the Future of Local Authority Finance: Meeting the Challenges events held in July 2012.

Detailed guidance on the completion of the 2011-12 L pack (including the latest version of the form and the Management Review Checklist) is available from the CLG website. An FAQ document, containing answers to key questions raised during the series, will also be available on that page.
