The Insurance Act 2015 received Royal Assent in February 2015 and heralds one of the most significant developments in UK insurance contract law, and is due to come into effect on 12 August 2016. It will apply to all policies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that incept, renew or vary on or after 12 August 2016. It is likely to have an impact on how public bodies purchase the insurance they require.
