Scoping the Future for Police and Fire Finance: Part Two

24-11-2021

A CIPFA Police and Fire Network webinar from 24 November, following up from the virtual conference on 17 and 18 March.

The chancellor's spending review announcement potentially precedes the first multi-year settlement for policing and the latest multi-year settlement for fire and rescue authorities. This event scoped some of the future financial issues for police and fire and rescue services, based on the latest economic forecasts and those for public finances. We considered the likely major factors for police and fire finance over the next few years, and the government's expectations, to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities ahead and the implications for resources.

Speakers included:

  • Charlotte Bryant, Deputy Director for Police and Fire Funding and Criminal Justice System Strategy, Home Office
  • Graham Atkins, Associate Director for the Institute for Government
  • Professor Tony Travers, Director of LSE London
  • Alison Dewhirst, Police Advisor, CIPFA
