Welcome to the CIPFA North East region

UK map

CIPFA North East covers an area stretching from Tees Valley up to Berwick-upon-Tweed, the northernmost town in England.

Its hundreds of members and student members are employed throughout the public and private sectors.

Dear members,

In line with CIPFA national guidance, I am proposing that we do not go ahead with any face-to-face meetings or conferences from 23 March until 31 May 2020. This will include the sixth form games, AGM and MOT day as well as CIPFA NE Executive meetings.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, however I'm sure that you'll agree that it is far more important to limit any spread of the coronavirus and safeguard the health of colleagues and stakeholders. We will endeavour to rearrange all events when it is deemed safe to do so.

Best wishes, Jim Dafter, CIPFA NE President

COVID-19 - An offer of help

CIPFA North East are committed to safeguarding the health and welfare of our colleagues. We cover an area from the Tees Valley to Berwick-upon-tweed, the most northerly English town.

In the coming weeks and months, if you need to self-isolate we are here to help. This could involve collecting groceries, prescriptions, speaking on the phone or posting mail.  Please get in touch if you require any assistance by emailing regnea.president@cipfa.org.

Equally if you are fit, well and able to volunteer we'd love to hear from you. Again, we can be contacted on the above email address.

Forthcoming events

In line with the above statement from the regional president, all CIPFA NE events are cancelled until at least 31 May, and possibly beyond that date. Apologies for any inconvenience; further updates will be published in due course.

Save the date: CIPFA North East 10th Annual Conference – 6 November 2020 at the Sage. We have the following speakers confirmed so far for what promises to be an informative conference:

  • Rob Whiteman, CEO, CIPFA
  • John Fenwick, Nexus
  • Ken Bremner, Chief Executive, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
  • Professor Harriet Bulkeley, Durham University
  • James Ramsbotham, Chief Executive, North East Chamber of Commerce

Volunteering in your region

You could help your region to support members and students, in a variety of ways as a regional volunteer. We need the help of willing volunteers and have a broad range of opportunities for any member or student who is interested in getting involved.
