About the course

The public sector is becoming more commercial in its outlook and practices, driven largely by continuing budget pressures and the need to generate extra revenue. This one day course focuses on creating or re-energising business models so that services are more competitive, viable and focused on their internal and external customers and stakeholders and their needs.

The approach to business modelling has been developed by CIPFA to provide a quick method of testing business ideas before committing to business cases and expenditure. It is designed to help you align your businesses with their organisation's overall purpose and their commercial aims.

Who is it for?

The course is aimed at management teams or individuals responsible for planning or running services on a commercial basis in the public sector. This could include shared services providing services to public sector bodies, commercial provision of services to other public or private sector bodies or direct to the public.
