With the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) to apply in the UK from 25 May 2018, following a two-year transition period, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is currently consulting on its draft guidance on consent under the GDPR. The consultation will close on 31 March 2017.

The GDPR will have a significant impact on how businesses/organisations collect and process the personal data of individuals. For more information on the GDPR and the implications for information governance, see the EU Data Protection Regulation Changes topical issues piece.
