The consultation paper 'Places, People and Planning: A consultation of the future of the Scottish Planning System' is available on the Scottish Government's website. The consultation is open until 4 April.

The paper provides details of proposed changes to the planning system in Scotland, including proposals for plan-making, community involvement, building new homes and reducing bureaucracy, and seeks respondents' views on them.

in 2015 ministers commissionsed an independent panel to undertake a review of the country's planning system. The review included opportunities to get involved through both written and oral evidence and an online discussion forum.

Since then the government has been working with a wide range of stakeholders, including community representatives, public and private sectors, to explore potential changes to the system.

Webchat is available Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (excluding UK bank holidays).
